Houston, TX (March 26, 2012) – Retail Information Systems (RIS) recently acquired Advanced Retail Management Systems (ARMS), a leading provider of Point of Sale and Inventory Control Systems for small to mid-sized retailers.

This year marks our 25th anniversary. We have seen many changes in technology, retailing and in the world in general during this time. When we first started in business in 1986, the IBM PC was just becoming popular. Very few small to mid-sized retailers used computers at that time for inventory control and Point-of-Sale. If a store did have an inventory control system, they were often using cash registers which connected to a PC. Today we support over 1,000 retail companies coast to coast on a variety of Point-of-Sale systems with many diverse business needs.
Since 1986, we have kept our initial focus of providing technology that helps retailers excel in their business. Announcing CounterPoint SQL Version 8.4
The latest full version release of CounterPoint SQL from Radiant Systems is out in a Beta Testing mode currently.
CounterPoint SQL Version 8.4 is due out in general release next month (February 2011).
Some of the new features/benefits of CounterPoint SQL Version 8.4 are:
Sending receipts via e-mail: You can now send receipts to customers via e-mail, allowing you to offer your customers the convenience of electronic receipts while reducing consumption of receipt paper.
Merge Items utility: CounterPoint now includes the Merge Items utility, which allows you to consolidate multiple item records that may have been inadvertently created for an item.
Physical Count enhancements: This version includes numerous enhancements that round out and expand CounterPoint's physical count functionality, making it more versatile and useful to a wider variety of merchants.You can now freeze on-hand quantities by Quantity on hand or Quantity available, allowing you to choose whether to consider unposted inventory transactions in the frozen quantities and the resulting physical count transactions.When you enter or import physical count quantities, you can now identify who counted each item and include free-form comments for each count quantity (e.g., which section of the count area
Price sheets: This version includes comprehensive price sheet functionality, allowing you to select a group of items and apply price changes to all of the items on the price sheet simultaneously. Price sheets accommodate common price change scenarios, such as raising prices by 10% for all items you purchase from a particular vendor, or setting the prices for items in a particular category that haven't sold in the last 90 days to $1.00.
Sending customer statements via e-mail: You can now send statements to A/R customers via e-mail, allowing you to offer your customers the convenience of electronic statements while reducing your consumption of physical supplies, including printer paper and ink.
Adding and deleting lines on CPOnline orders: CounterPoint now allows you to add and delete lines on orders that have been imported from CPOnline and on the corresponding release tickets

Retail Pro is committed to enhancing the features and functionality for customers on Version 8.6. Below is a snapshot of the new features, additional functionality and feature updates included in the new Retail Pro Version 8.6.1 release scheduled for mid 2011. You must have current Software Assurance to receive this new Version of Retail Pro. Gold Support customers will be updated at no charge. Announcing the Retail Mobile Suite for Retail Pro
Perform Physical Inventory, Receiving, Transfers, Line Busting, Inventory Status Check, and Label Printing in a mobile environment with tight integration to Retail Pro. The Retail Mobile Suite from FoundryLogic is easy-to-use and you can get started with minimum training. It works with Retail Pro Version 8 and Version 9 and runs on a Windows Mobile 5-6 and a Windows CE mobile device. The Retail Mobile Suite supports both online and offline transactions.
A consistent look and feel is maintained across all activities and the user interface is optimized for fast operation with minimal use of a stylus. Every session is date and time stamped so that entries are fully auditable.
Physical Inventory is supported with both open and blind counting methods. Multiple physical inventory sessions can be saved in the handheld device. The sessions are synchronized to Retail Pro® as desired.
Upload scanned items into Receipts, Sales Orders, Slips, Transfer Orders, Vouchers, POs, and Adjustments quickly and easily.
Transaction discrepancies are handled natively in Retail Pro®, which gives you the opportunity to remove or fix bad scans before importing them into your documents.
Use Inventory Check to quickly scan and verify item information, such as price, quantity, size and color. You can print labels using a Bluetooth-enabled printer.
The Retail Mobile Suite also offers shopper checkout with Line Buster, or get even more personal and allow your Shoppers to checkout on the sales floor with Mobile POS. Mobile POS accepts Cash, Credit Cards (Planned release Q1 2011), and Gift Cards. Secure data is sent wirelessly to Retail Pro and your Credit Card gateway.
