Greetings from the
President
We are very pleased to
announce our new monthly News Brief. The purpose of the
News Brief is to keep you informed on new products,
events, useful technical information, company news and
changes in the industry. Our goal is to present an easy
to read format that is brief and to the point. As
always, your input, comments and suggestions are
welcomed.
Talking about news, last month the long awaited
completion of the merger between Island Pacific (IP) and
Retail Technologies International (RTI) was completed.
The joining of these two companies along with Island
Pacific's acquisition of Page Digital will have a huge
and positive impact on retailers small and large.
Island Pacific is committed to the ongoing development
of Retail Pro®. The newest version of Retail Pro® called
Retail Pro Enterprise Management System (EMS)® has just
entered the Beta cycle - we will be releasing
information on EMS and its features on a regular basis
in the News Brief. More information on the IP RTI
merger follows in this month's News Brief.

Video Surveillance Systems protect you from
theft!
Retailers are
challenged by theft and store liability. Customer and
employee theft as well as worker's compensation claims
eat into a retailer's profits. RemoteManager.IP
integrates Retail Pro® point-of-sale with video
surveillance systems to provide an efficient and
effective means of managing these challenges.
With RemoteManager.IP, you can:
• Monitor employee performance from the store or
remotely
• View customer transactions
• Investigate security and liability issues
RemoteManager.IP allows you to store and retrieve
information easily and is scalable. Retailers can view
synced video and sales information on one screen. This
helps retailers determine if items were rung up/scanned
correctly. RemoteManager.IP also allows the retailer to
store an unlimited number of transactions.

The New Denver Convention Center Bear
Just grin and
bear it: Convention center's looky-loo big 'n'
blue
The 40-foot "big blue bear" that will stand outside the
main entrance of the expanded Colorado Convention Center
at 14th and Stout streets downtown will appear as if
it's peering inside the building. The blue bear will
make its debut next spring.
Construction of the $400,000 bear is taking place in
American Canyon, 35 miles northeast of San Francisco,
said Denver artist Lawrence Argent, the bear's creator.
Argent said inspiration for the bear came from his
curiosity about convention visitors who have a variety
of interests.
